Description

Quiet Walk is a premium flooring underlayment choice allowing firm support for multiple types of flooring with great acoustic benefits. Built with sound reduction and moisture dissipation in mind. The standard vapor barrier is specially designed for optimal bond with adhesives for easy installation.

Product Features

  • Use with hardwood flooring, glue and nail down flooring. Underlayment is for floating floor applications (Flooring that required no glue or nail down.) Will not work with luxury vinyl flooring that is 4mm or thinner flooring.
  • Superior sound reduction recycled fibers absorbs sound and keep it from traveling to other rooms, makes click-together floating floors sound solid underfoot.
  • IIC (Impact Insulation Class) Sound Rating of 71. IIC is a measure of how much impact sound (walking, kids playing, etc.) is reduced after traveling through the floor covering, underlayment, and building structure and emerging in the room below.
  • STC (Sound Transmission Class) Sound Rating of 66. STC is a measure of how much airborne sound (speech, TV, stereo, etc.) is reduced after traveling through the floor covering, underlayment, and building structure and emerging in the room below.
  • Delta IIC Sound Rating of 22. Delta rating is the best rating to consider when comparing the performance of different types of underlayment.
  • Moisture protection recycled fibers allow installation over concrete to & managing vapors from becoming bulk moisture. The attached vapor barrier protects the overlying floors from harmful moisture.
  • Compression resistant dense recycled fiber structure supports the click-together mechanism and will uphold its supportive configuration under the consistent traffic of the overlying floor.
  • QuietWalk's compression resistance exceeds the requirement for pre-attached flooring that is greater than 29 psi @50% per ASTM D1667. The high compression resistance assures that the underlayment will not contribute to floor decoupling.
  • GreenGuard Gold Certified. Meets health based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels to ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.
  • Approved for in-floor radiant heat systems allows heat to permeate evenly while helping to protect the floor covering material from thermal shock, achieve warmth with quiet warmth radiant heat system
  • Easy installation - roll out and join the seam
  • Mold and Mildew Resistant
  • Made from Recycled Material in USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty
  • R-Value of 0.58. R-Value is a measure of the insulating ability of the underlayment.
  • Water Vapor Transmission Rate of 0.423 lbs / 1000 sq ft / 24 hrs. Result expresses the amount of moisture emissions the concrete emits using a calcium chloride test.
  • Use for both residential and commercial.

Info & Guides

Installation Instructions

Floating Floors

  1. Subfloor surface must be clean and dry before installation.
  2. Roll QuietWalk Plus underlayment over the subfloor with vapor barrier film (imprinted side) facing up.
  3. The perimeter edges of QuietWalk Plus underlayment need to be 1/2 to 3/4 inches away from the wall.
  4. Seams need to be butted together flush, do not overlap the pad. Tape the seams with duct tape, unless the roll is provided with a factory attached lip and tape system.
  5. Install laminate/floating flooring according to the manufacturer's installation instructions.

Doubled Glue Down Floors

  1. Subfloor surface must be clean and dry before installation.
  2. Roll QuietWalk Plus underlayment over the subfloor with vapor barrier film (imprinted side) facing up.
  3. With a utility knife cut off the overhanging lip/flap before applying adhesive.
  4. Adhere to subfloor using recommended flooring manufacturer's adhesive and recommended trowel size and install method
  5. Roll over the underlayment with a 75 or 100 pound roller
  6. Adhere flooring over the top using manufacturer's recommended adhesive and trowel size

Nail and Staple Floors

  1. Subfloor surface must be clean and dry before installation.
  2. Roll QuietWalk Plus underlayment over the subfloor with vapor barrier film (imprinted side) facing up.
  3. Remove the tape strip from the edge and secure lip and tape edges together for proper moisture protection.
  4. Install flooring according to the flooring manufacturer's installation instructions and recommended fastening materials

All wood and concrete subfloors must be flat within 1/8" over a 6' span, or 3/16" over a 10' span. All areas must be check prior to installation.

* In geographic areas where concrete slabs are subject to excessive moisture, a calcium chloride moisture test is required. Vapor emission readings in excess of 5 lbs. per 1000 square feet in 24 hours will require additional protection such as a concrete sealant or polyethylene sheeting.

NOTE:
Due to the manufacturing process and the use of recycled materials, the pad thickness may vary .02 of an inch plus-or-minus. Actual weight of each roll may also vary 1.2 lbs. plus-or-minus. While it may appear that one roll is slightly larger than another, MP Global guarantee this slight variance DOES NOT affect the coverage area nor the sound absorption benefits of the product.

Sound Properties

Impact Sound Transmission

The method is designed to measure the impact sound transmission performance of a floor-ceiling assembly in a controlled laboratory environment.

IIC Flooring Sub-floor
71 Laminate 6" concrete subfloor with ceiling assembly
57 Floating Engineered Wood 6" concrete subfloor with ceiling assembly
68 Laminate 8" concrete w/suspended gypsum board assembly
60 (Field IIC) Laminate 8" concrete (no ceiling assembly)
59 Engineered Wood Fire Rated System - UL L521 Wood frame with 3/4" gypsum concrete
61 Floating Engineered Hardwood Wood frame, gypsum concrete, isolation clips
59 Floating Engineered Hardwood Wood frame and gypsum concrete

Sound Transmission Loss

The sound-insulating property of a partition element is express in terms of the sound transmission loss.

IIC Flooring Sub-floor
66 Floating Engineered Wood 8" concrete w/suspended gypsum board assembly
54 Laminate 8" concrete (no ceiling assembly)
52 Laminate 8" Wood frame and gypsum concrete

    Felt underlayment is great!

Posted by Joe Dew on 11th May 2021

I did my research on underlayments and chose QuietWalk Plus because it is felt. I read that foam underlayments can compress over time and plan to have my flooring for over 10 years. It feels like a quality material and helped reduced floor noise too!

QuietWalk Plus is great for multi-floor homes

Posted by Leo Williams on 31st Mar 2021

We recently had new floors installed upstairs and laid QuietWalk Plus underneath. Right off the bat the difference was noticeable. Footsteps can't be heard anymore when someone is moving around upstairs.

    Definitely can recommend

Posted by Darrin S. on 9th Mar 2021

This underlayment laid out flat which was great. The included adhesive tape also sped things up. This stuff is way better than foam!

    Have a sharp utility knife!

Posted by Christine on 4th Feb 2021

We got this underlayment and it is a nice thick material. Can be hard to cut so make sure to have a fresh utility knife!

    Installer approved of it

Posted by Gladys R. on 2nd Feb 2021

I hired a designated flooring installer to install my underlayment and floors. He was surprised by the quality of the material compared to other underlayments he has worked with!

    Reduces echo

Posted by Alexis Quinn on 13th Jan 2021

As soon as you walk on the floors you can notice the reduced echo in the room. Also, it feels great to walk on!

    higher quality than foam!

Posted by Sharron on 7th Oct 2020

My husband recently installed this under some laminate we laid in our bedroom. When we did the living room we used a cheaper foam underlayment and wow do we regret that! We did not realize the difference in dampening sound a higher quality underlayment makes!

Comfortable to walk on, easy to install, works as expected. Taking off a star for ease of ripping plastic.
